So, now it is time to start cutting out the rot under the hood. Here is a picture of the starting point:
A few spot weld removals later, a fresh start is at hand
For those of you who know, they don't make replacement panels for the 64/65 battery apron.... at least none that I am aware of. So I had a guy in California send me a rust free one along with new shock towers (more on that later). Unfortunately for me, the replacement had rust through as well.... So I requested another, which he quickly sent . But, the second one had rust as well. So rather then try a third time, I decided to graft in a piece of a 65 mustang tray. I have shown this process a few times already, so I won't go through it again..... but here is a picture of the new panel being test fitted.
